To gift or not to gift?

Host and Hostess Gifts

It is an unwritten rule with the friends I see regularly. No one feels obliged to bring anything when we get together. It’s enough to just collapse on the couch for some Netflix or sit around the kitchen table for a chat and some food. If one of us needs the other to bring something, we’ll just ask.

But, if I am headed to someone’s house for the first time, I usually bring a little something. Flowers can be over the top for me…but maybe a little plant or the usual bottle of wine.

I figure most people could use a notepad. The kind with a magnet to hang on the fridge. I don’t put in the extra effort to wrap the gift (again, it might be over the top)  but I do put it all in a pretty gift bag, no tissue or ribbon.  Generally, for a hostess gift, I don’t include a card. I keep it simple.
I like these notepads!
