As I’ve mentioned before, it really doesn’t bother me one little bit that Valentine’s Day might be made up. In Mrs. Elliot’s kindergarten class, I remember decorating a brown paper lunch bag. And on the day of the Valentine’s Day party, we would rip around and deliver a Valentine to everybody. Some were homemade and some looked like this.
That year Noodles, my grandmother, brought in a huge Valentine’s Day cake. It had lots and lots of white icing. And red cinnamon hearts on it. It was amazing.
I sell lots of ready-made Valentines by Peaceable Kingdom. Some have stickers and some have tattoos. Very cute. If you are crafty and like a DIY kit, I have a pretty good selection from Paper Source. I’ve got the Hedgehogs, the Rockets and the mini Valentines Kit. I made a few up today.
But I really, really like making my own. May I present what I consider the very definition of a homemade Valentine.
A red heart, a doily and stickers. *sigh*
