This was going to be the year we traveled to Italy. The four of us touring around and taking in the sights and the pizza! Our daydreams came to an abrupt end when the snow began to melt and we discovered our roof shingles swimming in spring puddles.
So, we made this summer a staycation. It has been a summer of visiting local sites and saying yes to a little bit of excitement like ziplining at Camp Fotune and a trip to the water park at Mont Cascades!
To be honest, as much as I hate having to fork out all that money for a new roof, sticking town this year has turned out to be a pretty good decision. Ottawa has really turned it up a notch for Canada 150. We saw La Machine and hung out on Major Hill’s Park for Canada Day. We saw the cloud art display at the National Art Centre (so magical!) and last week we went to see Kontinuum.
With just one week to go before the kids are back in school, I can’t think of better timing for our street festival . FUSE is two days of fun. There will be an UnBirthday Party for kids happening in the parking lot beside Frontline Credit Union. Your’s truly is doing up large scale decorations. I have no idea how we’ll get them up high in those trees! The Cupcake Lounge is providing mini cupcakes.
I hear Loft – that new gorgeous hair salon that opened beside the LCBO is bringing Miami Beach to Westboro with their braid bar. Canopy is having a workshop that will teach you how to distress your jeans. You can sign your kids up at Cococo Chocolates for a workshop called Come Play With Chocolate! The Piggy Market seems to be the epi-centre of all things food. Charcuterie and Chardonnay on Saturday, a pancake breakfast on Sunday and Pigs and Pints to wrap it all up Sunday evening. Be sure to call Dave to reserve your seat!
As for my little store?? Kat will be mixing up some Mocktails to go along with our Temporary Tattoo Parlour. And we’ll have a Snail Mail Station set up. Complete with DIY postcards and stamps.
There will be patios on the street, music and fun. Grab a neighbour and come down! If I am not exactly where I should be, don’t look too far. You’ll probably find me sitting on the patio at Pietro’s, cooling off with a Poptail at The Cupcake Lounge or lounging at The Savoy.
